About us

Founded in 2022, Awatif is a Sudanese innovation-driven company committed to overcoming Sudan's extreme agricultural challenges—surface temperatures above 46°C, annual rainfall of just 200–300 mm, and urgent food security needs. Our founders reframed these obstacles as design requirements, engineering entirely new solutions rather than adapting traditional greenhouses that fail in this climate.

From Khartoum headquarters and our production farms in Al Seilat and Gezira State, we create jobs, empower local farmers, and pioneer climate-resilient agriculture as a pathway to sustainable economic growth in Sudan.

Technology highlights

Geothermal cooling system diagram

Patented geothermal cooling

Sudan's first patented system uses stable underground temperatures (18–24°C) to maintain optimal growing conditions, reducing energy consumption by 25–50% compared to air-conditioning.

Hydroponic farming setup with leafy greens

Hydroponic farming

Soil-free, nutrient-rich water systems that use up to 90% less water, enable year-round crops like strawberries, lettuce, and tomatoes, increase yields, and reduce pesticide use.

Refrigerated transport and cold storage

Cold chain ecosystem

A full suite of cooling from vacuum freeze and hydrocooling to cold storage and refrigerated transport preserves produce quality for local markets and export.

Solar panels powering farm operations

Solar energy integration

Solar power reduces operational costs and environmental impact by powering hydroponic pumps, cooling circulation, and cold chain facilities.

Semi-underground climate-resilient facility

Engineered structures

Facilities incorporate 3D insulated wall panels, semi-underground designs, and strategic orientation to minimize heat gain and enhance energy efficiency.
